Pricing is a challenge that shop owners face. We want to cover costs while offering products and services for competitive prices. Why not show our customers where their money goes to?
Sustainable businesses that pay fair prices to producers along the supply chain should show and prove that they do. Once customers are convinced that the price is not for the merchant's own surplus, they might be willing to pay higher prices. They will eventually be obliged to do so, at least in Europe, when the EU Act on Supply Chain Due Diligence (Lieferkettengesetz) is ratified.
My Cost Transparency extension for Shopware adds an optional bar chart to indicate the fractions of a product price paid for the material, manufacturers, marketing, distribution, etc. This can be a first step for merchants to inform customers about their supply chains. It's a simple data visualization using a classic bar chart diagram:
The free and open-source extension currently supports up to five cost factors. Captions and optional detailed descriptions that may contain HTML markup, like lists and links, are defined globally for each online shop. Colors can be customized using custom properties (CSS variables).
The cost transparency extension has been approved and released in the Shopware store: https://store.shopware.com/en/ingos57544164693f/cost-transparency.html
